Lockdown

I’ve called this piece ‘Lockdown’ because that’s basically what we are in at the moment and have been for the past few weeks due to COVID-19 better known as Coronavirus. This is a narrative project which my art teacher asked us to compose although it was just originally meant to be still life. I decided that I felt a bit gothic and thought of the Plague in the 1600’s when people wore the plague doctor masks. So I bought one especially for this painting along with a spiky ball meant for a dog. That represents the Coronavirus cell. The ornament is my daughter’s birthday present and I thought it would be ideal to add a bit of added effect together with some ivy on a red background. The blue at the top picks out the blue spikes on the ball. This was painted in watercolour with pen.
