View From Rangitoto Island, New Zealand

I loved visiting this beautiful nature reserve called Rantitoto Island just off the coast across from Auckland. I visited my daughter who has now emigrated to New Zealand and this was one placeI wanted to see. I liked this particular shot from a photo I took because of the colours in the water and all the different textures of the lava and unique vegetation that grows there. Hunstanton Cliffs 2

The second of two paintings in watercolour of Hunstanton Cliffs this time using a different technique.  I used a 10mm angular flat brush to create the rippling effect of the sea. A second attempt with this amazing actor using just two colours in acrylic – Payne’s Gray and Titanium White. The Cat With The Pearl Earring

There are a lot of unusual and humorous ideas floating about at the moment during lockdown, one of them to re-compose a copy of the old masters. So I thought as my cat is rather an amusing character and I don’t really care for old portraits particularly, that it would be fun to reinvent it by using my cat as the subject with acrylics on acrylic A3 paper.
