This is from a photo I took on a retreat I went to in Bad Nenndorf, just outside Hannover. We were taken into the local woods, the Sultenbuchenallee, which contains trees which have become contorted and twisted and asked to carry out some meditational practices one of which was hugging trees. Here Bhante Sukhacitto, our teacher is practising and I managed to catch a photo of him which I decided to paint. The experience I hope is captured with the simplicity of the contrast of the trees with his robe.
